Legacy Five (1999-Present)

History

Legacy Five was formed by former Cathedral Quartet members Roger Bennett and Scott Fowler when the Cathedrals retired in 1999. The original members of the group were Fowler as lead singer, Josh Cobb at tenor, Glenn Dustin singing bass, Scott Howard at baritone, and Bennett on piano and vocals. The group found immediate success with the release of their first project, Strong in the Strength.

In the mid-1990s, while still a member of the Cathedrals, Roger Bennett was diagnosed with leukemia. He battled that disease for years and underwent several bone marrow transplants which forced him to take time off from both group from time to time in order to receive his medical treatments. He continued to tour and record with both groups as his medical condition allowed. Unfortunately, Roger Bennett passed away on March 17, 2007. He was 48 years old.

In addition to Roger's death, Legacy Five has experienced other changes in membership over the years. Tenor Josh Cobb left the group in 2000 and was replaced by Tony Jarman. Jarman held the tenor position until he left the group in 2004 and was replaced by Frank Seamans. Frank had worked with Scott Fowler in the group The Sound? in 1990.

Tim Parton was named permanant pianist for Legacy Five in April, 2007, after filling in for Roger off and on for a couple of years.

Legacy Five has been featured in several Gaither Homecoming videos and have been regular performers at the National Quartet Convention. Gary Buckner was hired as their bus driver in 2005. He also sings bass occasionally and appeared on their Friday Night Favorites CD and DVD. Also appearing on that CD/DVD project was Jordan Bennett, Roger's son. Jordan played bass guitar with the group for several months in 2005-2006.

During the 2009 National Quartet Convention, it was announced that Frank Seamans would be leaving the group to spend more time with his family. Gus Gaches of Priority was chosen as the new tenor and joined the group in December.
