Justified Quartet (2011-Present)

History

Justified Quartet was formed in November 2011 and based in Flint, Michigan. All four men in the initial lineup had spent time in other Michigan-based Gospel groups over the previous 20 years. Lead singer Carl Ledford and baritone Mark Jacoby had both been part of the Calvarymen Quartet, the latter having spent almost a decade as part of that group.

The quartet started off singing mostly across Michigan and the Midwest region, but their national profile and touring area expanded over time, especially after signing with Big Picture Records (a sister label of Daywind Records) in 2021 and recording a project in tribute to the songs of Dianne Wilkinson.

The original vocal lineup stayed intact until the departure of founding tenor David Potts in 2020, after which Calvarymen & Toney Brothers alumnus Randy Lewis started singing that part. Founding lead Carl Ledford departed in 2021 and was replaced by Sean Barber. Barber was later picked to fill the baritone role vacated by Scotty Inman with Triumphant Quartet in 2023. The group traveled with a couple of fill-ins (including former Inspirations and Perrys member David Ragan) until they settled on Anthony Patton for the lead part in 2024. This news coincided with the announcement of tenor Tony Goforth joining the group following Randy Lewis' departure.

Founding baritone Mark Jacoby announced his retirement from the group in 2025, and former PromisedLand Quartet baritone Aaron Swain stepped into that role in November of that year.
