Jim Hefner (January 10, 1942 - November 20, 2021)
Biography
Jim was best known for emceeing and story telling.
During High School he sang with The Salesmen Quartet with Jimmy Wofford. Following High School he sang with Cavaliers Quartet, Norfolk, Virginia. He also sang on Wheeling Jamboree, The Starmen, Marion, Illinois and The Rhythm Masters with Dan Hubbard, Birmingham, Alabama.
In 1974 formed The Southmen Quartet, with Jack Toney, Larry Beck, Tim Riley, Johny Washburn and Tommy Glover, as tenor, manager and emcee. He held that title until his death. He also served twelve years as President of the Southern Gospel Promoters Association.
