Tony Webster Wood

Biography

Tony Wood has written more than 3000 songs with over 900 recorded in various genres. Wood is primarily a lyricist, so practically all of his songs are co-written with other songwriters.

After graduating from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wood and his wife relocated to Nashville, Tennessee. It took him a couple years before he was able to connect with Michael Puryear, a publisher who saw his potential and began setting up co-write sessions. It took another couple of years to get his first song cut.

For more than eight years, Wood worked as a youth minister so he could afford to continue to pursue his dream of writing professionally. Success eventually came, especially after co-writing three songs for the certified platinum (million-selling) album Life Love And Other Mysteries (1996) by Point of Grace.
