Nancy Harmon (September 25, 1939 - )

Biography

Nancy Harmon was born and raised in Warrensburg, Missouri. Her mother started a church in their home that became the Warrensburg Pentecostal Church of God. It was there that young Nancy began playing piano at the age of eight. Harmon entered full-time ministry at the age of thirteen playing organ for Mary Trinqual on radio broadcasts sponsored by Kansas City, Missouri's Revival Center.

Harmon later began working with Kenny Foreman initially in Kansas City then moved with her mother when Foreman relocated his ministry base to California. During this period of her life, Harmon began to be recognized as a songwriter, composing the classic "I've Come Too Far To Look Back" and other songs that are now classics. The Statesmen were the first major group to record one of her songs ("This Is The Day") and numerous groups followed.

In 1968, she began traveling full-time leading the Victory Voices. This traveling choir eventually came to be billed as Nancy Harmon And The Victory Voices. In 1975, Harmon launched the television program Love Special which was seen on 140 television stations spanning 16 states by 1980. Harmon later fronted groups billed as The Love Special Singers and The Mighty Warriors. Her soulful style and unique songwriting won her way into the hearts of many fans over the course of her career.

Harmon also wrote several books.
