W B Walbert (May 18, 1886 – December 2, 1959)

Biography

WB Walbert was a native of Barren County, Kentucky. He attended the Vaughan School and subsequently became employed by the company in 1912. In 1915, Walbert married James D. Vaughan's daughter Mable Grace Vaughan. In 1917, he was part of the Vaughan Saxophone Quartet.

Along with Vaughan’s son, Kieffer, Walbert was very instrumental in the success of the Vaughan Music Company over the next 50 years. He was both a band director and staff artist for Vaughan’s radio station, WOAN, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Beginning in 1923, Walbert managed the Vaughan Radio Quartet. He was also editor of the company newsletter, Vaughan Family Visitor, in the 1930s and ran the Vaughan School Of Music after James Vaughan's death in 1941. Walbert wrote more than 100 gospel songs, including "Peace Like A River," and "Tell It Everywhere You Go."
