Larry Benson (August 17, 1944 - July 25, 2023)

Larry Benson played drums for the Imperials during the group's early years. He also traveled with country music superstar Conway Twitty. In 1968, Benson founded a recording studio called Benson Sound in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Over the years that followed, the studio boasted of clients ranging from Southern Gospel singers like Big John Hall and Jimmy Swaggart to country music legend Reba McEntire and 1980's Miss America, Susan Powell.
