Kenny Parker Trio (1972-1977)

History

Kenny Parker played piano for the Rambos and operated his own music store before forming the Kenny Parker Trio in 1971 with his wife Peggy and Elmer Cole. Much of the music recorded by the trio over the next few years included original songs written by Kenny, Peggy, and/or Cole. Their best-known song is Cole’s “Ten Thousand Years” which appeared as the first track on their first album A First From The Kenny Parker Trio (1972). The trio’s concert sound was distinct from most other artists of the day due to their original songs as well as the fact that Parker typically played a Wurlitzer organ on stage rather than a traditional piano. Other members of the group included Patty Parker and Sherri Parker who later married harmonica player and singer Randy Miller.
