Called Out Quartet (2002-Present)

History

Called Out Quartet is a Southern Gospel Quartet based in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The group began in 2002 with Marty Harris at tenor, Jess Birdwell singing lead, Von Gaines singing bass, and baritone singer Darrell Collier. Their first project Because You Prayed was released in 2005 and featured several songs written by Marty Harris.

In 2007, tenor Marty Harris left the group due to vocal problems and was replaced by Scott Russell. Harris returned to the group in 2009 as a piano player and vocalist. In 2010, Darrell Collier's brother Kent joined the group to play bass guitar. The group released a Christmas project in 2010. Harris replaced Jess Birdwell at the lead singer position in 2011. The group's 2012 CD Sounds Like Home featured a guest vocal appearance by the legendary producer and pianist Eddie Crook. In 2013 Called Out Quartet released their tenth project, Telling The World.
