Biography

Billie Christene "Doan" Gatlin was born in Megargel, Texas on December 21, 1928. She and her husband, William Wayne “Curley” Gatlin were married for almost 71 years & raised their four children, La Donna Gatlin Johnson, Larry, Steve and Rudy Gatlin in West Texas. Primarily a homemaker, she was instrumental in nurturing her children when they began singing together as the Gatlin Quartet. She often accompanied them on piano as they performed together from coast to coast at church events, television and radio shows, and concerts.
