Urias LeFevre (January 25, 1910 - August 21, 1979)

Biography

Urias LeFevre was a member of the LeFevre Trio with his brother Alphus and sister Maude. In 1934, Urias married Eva Mae Whittington, who joined the trio to sing alto and play piano. The group name was then changed to the LeFevres Urias handled the business end of the group and emceed until he and his brother Alphus were called into military service. Upon their return, the emcee duties fell to his wife.

The group was successful on radio and television as well as the concert circuit. They were regulars on the Gospel Singing Caravan. Urias was inducted into the SGMA Hall Of Fame in 1997
